Web 2.0 Wednesday #1

Google Toolbox Opened

Originally uploaded by shimsand

I was searching this morning for an image of a toolbox or a playbox to sum up how I think about Web 2.0. I found this one on one of my favourite Web 2.0 sites Flickr and via a Creative Commons search. The toolbox is branded Google, but of course Google is one part of the whole Web 2.0 world. I think you’ll get the idea.

Web 2.0 is a great big toolbox of opportunity. It’s important that we try out the tools, find the one that works for us, and share it with others. And enjoy along the way!

The other cool thing about this image Kate is that these are Legos, which fit together to create all sorts of structures, depending on the desires of the person doing the building. That’s another great characteristic of Web 2.0–that it’s a series of building blocks that can be mixed, matched, built and re-built for whatever your purposes. If you don’t like what you get the first time or if you want to build something new, you can do that.

Right on! Aren’t images powerful for the way they capture and then extend thinking? And I just knew when I saw this picture that it expressed for me the concept of Web 2.0 even before I consciously analysed the content.

Hi, Kate. Great image you found to express your view of Web2.0. In fact, I didn’t even pay attention to Google. Just like Michele, what I considered to be prominent in the photo is the “building blocks” that the web2.0 provides us, building blocks harnessing collective intelligence.

Thanks for sharing! Oh, I’ll try the Seesmic in CoComment. Great pointer and nice to see you on video.
