5 x 5 = 5: Are you kidding?
So, 5 comments on each of 5 blogs … in 5 minutes? I’m reminded of speed dating here! Your comments have got to appear confident, thoughtful and not (heaven forbid) superficial. Wow!
I set myself the task of leaving something that was focussed and hopefully, generative.
So, I’ll let you judge for yourself if you’re interested. They’re all tagged. I also chose blogs from 5 different niches, and some of my favourites out there.
Stopwatch running, here’s how I went:
Read Michele Martin in the Bamboo Project Blog guide for Day 17, so there was the first place I needed to leave a comment. I picked up on Tony Karrer’s thoughtful comment that maybe this task was mildly ‘spammy.’
Headed over to Derrick Story’s Digital Story, one of my favourite photo blogs. I saw a post on a competition that could win a photographer a trip to Tasmania. I left a comment on my own adventures on the glorious Freycinet Peninsula wilderness, and urged anyone reading to have a go at the comp.
Then on to another favourite but I didn’t stay because the post I read through was a bit ranty on why Hillary should drop her candidacy in favour of Obama … it’s all about vanity now. Fascinating stuff, but I feel a bit out of it. I’m wondering why they can’t stand as a ‘dream team.’ Wouldn’t that work? Please … no spam!
Kevin (Dogtrax) has been a bit of a Seesmic supporter of my own little (mild) rants on the value of video commenting on blogs during this challenge, so off I went to visit Kevin’s Meandering Mind. He’d left a challenge to sum up the week in a 6-word sentence. Aha, Kevin … you’re one of my mob … keep it focussed and simple.
I’m keen to hear how Sarah Stewart has been going with the development of e-portfolios. She’s a midwifery scholar based in NZ and I became aware of her interest in e-portfolios some time ago. It seemed timely to drop in to Sarah’s Musings check out how she was doing in the professional development area, and leave a comment … but what did I find? A neat little Animoto of her son’s birthday supper. I left a note saying I was a fan of Animoto and did a PS on the e-portfolios.
And finally I wanted to visit somewhere I’d never been before. I found a class of Grade 6 kids taking part in the challenge, so I commented on Miss Wyatt’s class blog. I used to teach Grade 6 last century … what fun we could have had with the technology we have today!
And that, dear reader, in a very big nutshell is how I did this little task. It took me 33 minutes or so, and it was a surprisingly pleasant task. Thanks.

Thanks Kate for visiting my class blog. For just on three months blogging, the students are having a great time.
Some of them are very keen on commenting especially within the bounds of other students in the class, but some have been venturing out into the wild blue yonder and commenting in New Zealand, Victoria, Canada and some USA blogs.
I notice you mentioned Freycinet and I totally agree; one of the more remote yet very hospitable areas of Tasmania and a great variety of accommodation if you decide to stay.
